We are excited to be holding the 2025 Hawthorn Tennis Club Championships for Club members in September. The Club Championships will be once again held over two weekends this year, with Junior, Graded and Open events.

Junior Club Champs - Saturday 13th September

The Junior Club Championships (for 18 years and under) will be held on Saturday 13th September from 2-5pm.

Trophies will be provided for Winners & Runners Up and a BBQ Sausage Sizzle will be provided on the day.

Senior Club Championships - Sunday 14th September (Open) + Sunday 21st September (Graded)

The Senior Club Championships will commence at 9am on Sunday 14th September for the Open events and Sunday 21st for the Graded* events. Event options in both the Open and Graded Championships:

Women's Singles
Men's Singles
Women's Doubles
Men's Doubles
Mixed Doubles

* Players eligible for the Graded Club Championships have a UTR under 5.5. If you are not sure if you qualify, please email the Club. Everyone is welcome to play in the Open Championships including those playing in the Graded events.

Other details

Entry fees are $5 per player for doubles, and $10 per player for singles. Payment to be made on the day via the Square terminal.
Each player may only enter 2 events on a given day to ensure we can get through the events within the day. Note: exceptions may be made in circumstances where a player is unable to play on the day due to sickness or other circumstance and another player for a doubles pairing is slotted in who has already entered 2 events.
If you are interested in playing doubles and do not have a partner, please let us know and we can look to pair you up with someone.
The format for the matches will be determined once entries are received and there is a sense of the size of the draw. In previous years the match format has been one set or 'best of 8 games' for large draws, with finals typically 3 sets (super tiebreaker for 3rd set), in order to ensure the events can be completed in the day.
We encourage members to come down and watch and enjoy the competition, particularly finals viewing in the late afternoon.
Awards for the Winners and Runners Up for each event will be presented at the 2025 Hawthorn Tennis Club AGM.
There will be no Sunday Social running on either the 14th or 21st September.
Junior players are very welcome to participate in the Open or Graded Championships also.
